we have cake!

hii friends and fam! midterms pulled me under the current there for a couple of weeks but i’m back to blogging and excited to update you on all of the fun planning stuff we’ve had going on recently.

{all photos borrowed from holly’s blog}

steve and i spent friday the 19th with the wp’s for a fun day of tastings and flowers. we started the day at savoir fare catering indulging in yummy hors d’ouvres and signature dishes. we loved meeting joan and hearing all of her creative ideas for our reception menu!

next we visited with carolyn of taylor made cakes and oh em gee were we wowed. she had been warned by lisa that we were chocaholics when it came to dessert and she delivered a sample of every version of chocolate cake imaginable including flourless, marble, you name it. sooo decadent. sooo terrible for the bride’s diet! we signed a contract on the spot and are so excited for our (secretly flavored) masterpiece.

by afternoon, steve returned to work and us girls continued on to holly heider chapple’s beautiful home and flower shop. (i’d been following holly’s blog and twitter since getting engaged so this was the highlight of the day for me.) she latched right on to my “girly but not over the top” vintage-y vision so i’m very much looking forward to what she comes up with. she also has the cutest baby on the planet and if any of you know me at all, you are well aware that i was in high heaven.

next event on the road to 11/27 is an engagement party in fredericksburg this saturday. we could not be more thrilled to be getting together with our friends to celebrate the big occasion!
