six months to go!

{tug of war via brooklyn bride}

it seems like just yesterday we were celebrating thanksgiving and one year to the big day. i am finding it even harder to believe that we are knocking at june’s door and next week it will be one year that we’ve been engaged! it’s all pretty crazy but we are getting more and more excited to creep closer to 11-27. to celebrate hitting the six month mark, we are spending the afternoon and evening with the incredible kate headley in fredericksburg for our engagement shoot. so here’s hoping for sunshine today (fingers crossed!), smooth sailing from here until november, and happily ever after.

ps – no, that is not us up above, but one of the more adorable series of e-shots i’ve seen. and i’ve been studying engagement sessions pretty intently lately so i would know : )

bridal party intros: stefanie

rounding out the bridesmaids, last but certainly not least, is steve’s little sister, stefanie. i met stef very early on in my relationship with steve at her 5th grade winter concert. so, yes i’ve known her since she was an adorable 10-year old. today’s stefanie is a super successful junior in high school balancing varsity dance team and a study of cosmetology. i do my best to rescue her from her soccer-obsessed brothers as often as possible and i’m so excited for the nyc girls getaway we are planning! (i have a feeling the bars we plan to hop for my bachelorette may frown upon us toting a 17-year old along so we’ve got a fun trip in the works to make up for it.) i feel very lucky to be gaining a new little sister and while she she may be the youngest ‘maid but she will sure be putting us all to shame on the 11-27 dance floor!

all you need is

{flapper kiss via dog’n bird}

wedding planning has taken an unbreakable hold and we’re cruising full steam ahead towards 11-27. we’ve had a busy couple of weeks checking some major things off: flower girl dresses, my dress (yay!), a rehearsal dinner location, a dj, and a stationer. we also met with our priest, father jim, to launch pre-cana. phew!

we were supposed to have your engagement session with kate headley this past friday but we postponed due to some treacherous thunderstorms in the forecast. we’ve rescheduled for 5-27, which is fittingly and exactly six months from our big day.

in the midst of all of that we’ve also celebrated some major life accomplishments! maid of honor, bean, graduated from high point university last saturday, steve received his mba last sunday, and i wrapped up another semester at AU bringing me 7.5 credits closer to the completion of my masters. we’re feeling especially lucky these days for all of the love and support we have around us. so if you’re reading this, and we haven’t thanked you in awhile: thank you, thank you, thank you.

onward to november!

bridal party intros: andrew

andrew and steve go way back to the days of tot soccer (photographic evidence coming soon!) and all through their years at north stafford high. i even heard a rumor that andrew shared his intelligence (ie his answers) and is fully responsible for steve graduating. they faced a sad separation during college when one was at notre dame and one was at mary wash but andrew  has remained an amazing friend to steve. he’s also been very helpful in whipping steve-o into marrying shape and i can always count on him to be on my side of any fight : ) nowadays, he lives in alexandria and works on quantico. we don’t get together nearly as often as we should but we think of him all the time and we’re so excited to have him as part of steve’s 11-27 lineup!

(oh, and did i mention he’s a really not-at-all-good-looking marine? there’s that, too.)

flower girl fun

as i might have mentioned, we have incorporated a parade of four little ladies into our big day. you’ll meet them soon enough, but in the meantime i had to share some of these hilariously adorable flower girl shots from around the web. enjoy the cuteness!

steve and i have no expectations that the girlies four will perform with perfection or even make it down the aisle. we do, however, hope that they will at least pose pretty for kate so we can capture some of their sweetness on film!
