ring around the finger

{do what the ring says via the bride’s cafe}

you might have read earlier in the week that one of our recent accomplishments was selecting and ordering steve’s wedding band. for a guy who’s never worn jewelry a day in his life, i can *kind of* see why this took several months of warming up to, but now it’s done and we’re awaiting its arrival back at fink’s so that we can have something engraved on the inside. we’ve toyed around with doing the date or our initials but i stumbled upon this little gem in the wedding blogs today and it has skyrocketed to the top of my list!

tuesday shoesday: bridesmaid brooke

bridesmaid brooke is a lover of shoes. the girl has the most gorgeous collection of anyone i know and i still recall a night where she held back tears after the heel of a faithful LBS (little black shoe) snapped while we were on our way out for the evening. alas, today brings happier times and the debut of her stunning selection for 11-27, the nine west ensign. i am so loving the peep toe and bejeweled rosette. excellent choice, brookie!

hello fall + a few updates

{a sneak peek at our invitation suite by paperzest}

do you see what that countdown ticker reads over there on the right? and do you know what it is going to say tomorrow? do you see where i am going with this?! we are now officially within two months of 11-27 and your guess is as good as mine as to where the time has gone!

harsh realizations about the number of planning days left aside, we have been pretty productive lately:

  • steve has a wedding ring and a wedding suit
  • invitations are designed and have been sent to print
  • our ceremony music is finalized
  • dress alterations are underway and looking fabulous
  • rehearsal dinner menu and reception menu are both finalized
  • we survived pre-cana and received our certificate

and tons more details that i won’t bore you with.

as for what’s ahead, we meet with our priest, father jim, on thursday to go over our foccus inventory and wrap up our pre-marriage prep then steve takes off this weekend for his bachelor party in atlantic city. i will be spending my weekend with the little cousins ferraiolo so that my aunt and uncle who have so generously lent us their house for my bridal shower, the wedding day, and our hangover sunday brunch following the wedding, can have a nice kid-free getaway to my parents’ in newburyport as a small token of my appreciation. so while steve enjoys the boardwalk and reads a good book by the pool with his best guy friends (i can only hope!), i’ll be bouncing between soccer games and witnessing a karate yellow belt ceremony.

never a dull moment : ) happy fall!!

i had seen this pretty vintage birdcage in a once wed blog post back in june and fallen in love. i mean, the ribbon? little bird sitting on top? swoon. i saved the image for inspiration but never really thought much more of it. well one of the fiance’s assignments this week was to seek out the perfect birdcage to complete our reception decor and, lo and behold, he found the EXACT birdcage on ebay! we are now the proud owners of said ‘cage (along with 288 white candles and glass votives — steve’s project from last week — what can i say? the boy gets things done!) and i am just smitten with its loveliness and the helpfulness of one incredible guy.

something blue

{monogramming service via j.crew}

my beautiful baby sister got me the sweetest something blue. it’s  a grosgrain ribbon with my monogram and wedding date to sew into my wedding gown (obviously not an exact replica up above but you get the idea). love!

so i have officially procured:

something old: my great grandmother’s crystal rosary
something new: my wedding gown
something blue: the monogrammed ribbon

i still need something borrowed and i hope you are all on the lookout for a shiny penny for my shoe!

bridal party intros: michael

i love steve’s cousin, mike. i’ve gotten to know his family really well over the last eight years and just absolutely adore his parents, sisters, and girlfriend alyson, too. it helps that they are all based just a few minutes away from bridesmaid alana + hubby jon in cary so whether we are down there for a family function or to play with the fraziers, we get to see all of our nc people pretty often. we are actually heading down in just a few short hours for a weekend at the pereiras including some qt with mike and aly and alana’s baby shower!

mike will be serving as a groomsman on 11-27 while his sisters, jessica and melissa, will both be playing roles in the ceremony that are to be finalized shortly. we are so excited to have the whole family (plus aly!) on board for the big day.

bonus: did i mention mike is a caps and a red sox fan!? i promise those aren’t the only reasons why i love him : )

thursday purseday?

i heard a rumor from angela at swatchbook weddings that today is the first of many thursday pursedays (pairs nicely with tuesday shoesday and wedding wednesday, i think!). in honor of such a momentous occasion, i thought i would share a sneak peek at one of my most favorite wedding day accessories, the j.crew crushed glitter minaudiere.

ostentatious? yes.
fun? you bet.
and glam? uh huh.

happy thursday purseday!
